Terrain Mesh Question

Hi, just been reading a thread regarding which scenery add on to use. The thing, like there is only one right, that i don't understand is, what is the difference between all the terrain mesh sizes?

The smaller the number, the higher the resolution.

Basicly similar to the satillites images and how detailed they are. 8 meter would mean you could distinguish something that was 8 meters big, and 2 meter would be a 2 meter object, which is more detailed.
