Hornet release date...

Postby Boss_BlueAngels » Mon Aug 02, 2004 2:59 pm

Well, the folks over at aerialfoundry have done it again.  They set another date when their aircraft would be released and it has, well, come and gone yet again.  The first one was said to be released in the end of May... with no site updates, and no responses to my E-mails, they never said anything again till just a few weeks ago when they changed sites, and this time said, August 1st... I'm beginning to really doubt if anyone is even there at all. lol  I've sent them like 15 E-mails, asking about it, and no responses at all.  I'm really beginning to think the last thing I wanna do is give these people my money, but they're the only ones who are gonna be putting out a half decent Hornet model.

Oh wait... maybe they meant August first 2005... that would make more sense, since they said it's in the packaging stage a couple of weeks ago.  I guess I'll check back next year then. lol

There is a really good freeware Hornet out right now.  If you haven't tried it I would recomend giving it a go.  It's basically payware quality: http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military19.htm

Ah, a payware Hornet, and another payware Arrow - just what we need!!  Payware has it's place, but we seem to be going through a spate of unnecessary payware versions of superb freeware (Hornets, VC-10 etc); or inferior payware like the Lago Mig 21 (which I won't be deleting, but it's a damn expensive way to get a new AI aircraft!

Not sure if it's sloppy (or zero) market research, or banking on the fact that people don't know where to find the freeware stuff!

All of the Hornets I have, (specifically the two newer Super Hornets) have crappy flight models... I'm not smart enough to edit them, but the only thing I really like about them is their sexy looks.  Have you people flown those freeware aircraf? lol  And have you seen a real hornet fly?  The best Hornet I have is one of the CF-18's in its special paint scheme.  (forget who made it and what year... but it's the one painted like the big hornet(bug))

And if anything, the aircraft should fly MUCH more like the newest freeware F-14... that thing has an AMAZING flight model!!  Much more of what I'd expect out of the real thing.

I mean, pulling back on the stick and stalling a Rhino?  C'mon, that's what the FBW is for... is there no way to model that in FS9?

Anyway, I'm upset again, because AF has gone through their august 8th deadline for their Blue Angel jets and no site updates since the 6th...

P.S.  I would rather have a hornet that looks crappy, but flys "like the real thing" than having one that looks like the real thing, but flys like it's has the aerodynamics of a tree branch.

See guys, I want a Flight Sim plane that can do this:

(what it looks like from behind)

That's how picky I am with these things.  You try doing that at 170 kts in ANY Hornet for flight sim and make it look like that.   lol  if you can (and not climb to the moon. lol  that hornet rotates awefully fast, but it uses a lot of energy to do it. lol  )

BTW, the two pics I posted are ones I took last weekend in Hillsboro Oregon.

Wait, the Blue Angels were in Hillsboro this year.  If I had known that, I would have made the trip to see them!
