HELP!!! My Dubai physical properties.....

Postby Triple_7 » Sun Apr 01, 2007 11:33 pm

.....seem to have ran away :'(  Found this out after a lovely 1.5 hour flight from Kuwait with an EK A330-200.  Made an incredibly smooth smokeless landing despite a lovely 15 knot crosswind...but soon as I turned onto the taxiway...bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, whoops, there went the nose gear >:(  Other then the runways my entire Dubai has the physical properties of dirt.  So I can land just not taxi to the gate.  Really would like my taxiways back to the ever so important concrete.  All the textures and ATC is still there.  Just not the properties.  Havent added any scenery or mesh to the area.  Just flew in there a month or so ago without a problem.  So they seem to have magicaly disapeared :-[  Any idea as to how to fix this :-/

You mean that the airport worked perfectly one time and a mess the other? Did you install any scenery in between flights? :-?

Pretty much sums it up...it worked perfectly one month and not the next.  No scenery for that area has been installed ever other then taxiway signs...but those have been there for several other flights.  The only scenery I've ever installed for the Middle East was mesh for Kuwait and Iran.  So there shouldnt be any reason Dubai went haywire :-[

Nope, not "did you install a scenery for those whereabouts", but "did you install any kind of scenery at all in the meantime???"

FS(everynumber) has a factory defect that makes so that some not so accurately made scenery for Peru causes landslides in Swiss. Meant literally. :o

A .BGL of the ISD FS9 scenery for LIEO, for example, is known to make the greater part of Spain sink thousands of feet under sea level (quite funny to see the lakes and rivers on high terraces while the land is way below ;D).

Did you install ANY KIND of scenery add-on ever since your first flight in the FUBARred airport? :-?

There has been lots of scenery added since my last flight in Dubai.  Nothing major but mostly just a mesh here and there or several airports taxiway signs.  Most addon scenery kills my frames so I avoid most of them.

So is there anyway to fix this without wiping FS out or am I just screwed :-/

Two ways. One is the simplest but the weakest. The other is the longer, but the one that may hold the real solution to your problem.

The weakest is to find an updated AFCAD file for the airport you have the problem in and put it in "Addon Scenery\scenery\". Hopefully the new AFCAD will reinstate the original materials as they were before. Note please that I said "hopefully", as I have no idea if this solution will work (it's a 50/50 shakedown).

The longer way is to make a list of ALL the scenery installed since and then disable them momentarily. Then, once the sim is at the same configuration it was way back when your airport worked correctly, go in there and see if the taxiways are back in working order.

If the taxiways AREN'T back in working order, then you have a even bigger problem. I very much fear you need either to hope a new AFCAD will resolve things or reinstall the sim (or simply avoid that airport, the choice is yours).

If the disabling of the scenery ever since installed instead gives back the old taxiways' material, you know there's a scenery among those disabled that is choking your airport. To find the culprit go into the scenery manager and reactivate the sceneries one at time, and then try the taxiways in the problematic airport. One at time, one at time, you'll get to the scenery which is giving you headaches and can disable it once ands for ever.

That's about it.

Well...the AFCAD kind of worked...managed to regain use of a few taxiways.  But depending on the runway usage getting to and from the terminal might not be so easy.  Going to try to make it so only runway 12R/30L is usable.  I can at least make it to the end of 30L without a problem but about 3000 feet short of the end of 12R.  Still can get an A330-200 airborn from 12R if its decently light.  No heavy loads though :-/  It will have to do for now...not going to try finding the one scenery that could have caused this since I dont have the spare time...and could just find its not even a scenery conflict at all.  Will see how it reacts next time I do an FS wipeout and put most of the scenery back in.  Then again by the time I decide to start it fresh I will probably be building a new system to handle FS9 ;)

Now back to mapping out the few usable taxiways :-/
