Instructions for FS Autostart

Hey Guys and Ladies,    I'm at it again.   After getting  "THIS "program installed, - - -  I've worked at trying to understand the instructions.    Why is it that some very  "with-it" people can't write simple down to earth instructions and  just throw confusion  at you?   I'm sure this FS autostart program is very good and does what is claimed, - - - - -  but I wonder just how many people  really use it.  ???       After hours of work after getting it installed, I'm still no closer to using it than I was three weeks ago.    Study is a hobby of mine and I know I can explain very clear such things  that would baffle  a great many,  but  - - -     how about these programers  knock-off  the confusion.     I ,   like  many others ,   am not that versed in computers.        I wonder how they would do in  astronomy,  or  Drafting,  etc.    Instructions should be for the un-informed.     The  "others" don't need them .     Sorry  - - -  I do ramble  - - - -   a lot of work just to walk into a corner.                caveman

If I may be allowed to ramble a bit I find it to be intuitive and versatile.  I needed a way to kill my fax program at 5:00 every day even if I wasn't in the office.  I made a profile that did nothing but kill the 2 processes involved in the program, wrote a batch file that called that profile and then scheduled the batch file to run at 5:00 every day.

Autostart comes with a sample profile.  You just need to copy it, rename it and modify it.  The author has provided suggestions as to which services can be safely killed and you know where to find Black Viper's reference work.

I experimented with it for a while this afternoon and found I could run FS with as few as 6 services running (if I don't need internet services like weather or VATSIM).

If you haven't discovered it Windows has a services "explorer" built in.  Type services.msc in the Run box.  You may need administrator privileges to access it.

Hi  Mr  Webb, and to the others that read of my "ramblings".  A good morning to you all.     Webb to the rescue  - - - AGAIN,AGAIN and yet AGAIN.   Thank you so much for helping me so often.   Even my Lil'Wife  tells me to  "ask mr Webb".  She knows how hard I study and how often I box myself into a corner on this PC.     "sorta can't see the tree for the forest".  She also knows there is "NO GIVE-UP"  in me.    I just wish to say I try all that you suggest and greatly appreciate the privilege  of being on this forum.  Thanks again and  wishing you all a nice day.                   caveman
