Reverse from Gate?

Postby The_Apache » Fri Jul 22, 2005 4:35 am

Hey everyone, first time here.

I have tried looking with the search engine here, but no result.

Anyway, my problem is reversing from the gate!

So, in FS2002, you select to start from Gate 16 or such. When everything is loaded, you are at the cockpit and you are looking at the wall/gate.

Now, the problem is, how do you reverse/taxi FROM the gate so you can turn round and taxi to the runway?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Welcome to SimV

The function is called Pushback.

Release your parking brakes. Press Shift+P (hold shift key down and press the p), the a/c will start backing. If you wish to turn press the 1 key (keyboard, not numpad) and after 1 plane length the tail will turn left 90* then continue back, 2 key to go right.

Press Shift+P again to

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Alternatively, you can search at Avsim for Rob Barendregt's pushback gauge set. It's very good, and operates from a popup panel in the cockpit.

There is also a fine Boeing 737 panel by Alexandre Oliveira and Marcelo Vianna that has a nice push back feature built in.

I use it on most of my 737's. I'm not sure if it can be found on this site, however. Worth a search!

If we can't  do a 'simple' unaided Pushback, what are our chances of actually flying the 'thing'.?..  ;)

Alternatively, you could forget the pushback, and just go straight through the passenger terminal... ;) (as long as you haven't got crashes switched on)

Hey - it's only a suggestion! ;D

A hospital... what is it?
It's a big building with patients - but that's not important right now!

Well... If you'd like to be at the controls and don't feel like flying through walls  (;D) you could try backing up your aircraft in slew-mode. press Y to activate slewmode and then use your stick, but BE CAREFULL! It's very sensitive!  ;D

You can. After starting pushback, do not make any other keyboard or joystick input except the 1 and 2 keys and you can make successive turns as you wish until you end the pushback.

Crapfully yours.

I can only hOpe this is a typo.

I thought this makes you turn in 90 degree increments, not 180 degrees at once...

Yes, individual turns are 90*, but after the 1st is complete turn again. You'll go straight for 1 plane length and the new turn will start.

Not quite the same as ai do but gets you turned 180* (or 270, or 360, or.......)   ;)
