Postby Hai Perso Coyone? » Sat Jan 22, 2005 7:36 am

hi all,
i have FS8 installed on my desktop. i have FS9 installed on my laptop. since i borrowed the game from a friend, i dont have the CD's. i have been playing using the No CD patch. i would like to know if i can transfer the files  to my other PC which is  much more powerful. also, will the sim still work or will i have to buy it? will i be able to add add-ons to it? PAI? etc etc.

help appreciated,
ashar :)

HI HomerS....mmm....borrowed from a friend you say....now you must know that that is a very naughty thing to do and Mr Gates would definately NOT like it. You should also understand that because of that, members of this Forum are unlikely (My opinion) to be able to offer advice on this subject....you should now break open your little Piggy Bank and make amends by going out and paying cash for your FS9..like we all have..."Haven't we guys"...commoner :o

You also don't have any choice :)

You cannot simply transfer game folders, the game needs to be installed from the disc, even if you transfer every folder associated with the game. (there are deep, deep rooted files that you probably don't know about  ;) )

Well, despite my opinion about mr. Gates feelings I will respect the policy of this forum and I will advice you to purchase FS9 if you want to install it on your powerful computer. I am sure the price is reduced by now (in comparison to what I remember 1 year ago) and having a "genuine" software product you can at least be sure that it will work...

Now technically speaking, yes, it possible to move FS folders (at least it works with FS8 and I see no reason for not working with F9) but you have to first install FS normally from the CDs. Then you can move the old folder replacing the existing one if you want to avoid re-installing all airplanes, PAI, etc. I have posted a message on the subject here http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/ ... 1106152186
