Hi kk1. API files are scenery macros for use with the Airport or FSSC scenery design programs. You can keep them anywhere you wish providing you know where they are. Both programs include a selection of API macros. These should already be in their correct location when you first install them.

FS2002 macros (21) OCEAN SHIPPING CARGO BUILDINGS API

These cargo buildings use .10 scale for Airport 2.60 and above.  Each has actual
company logos for signs. Night lighted.  American President, Atlantic Cargo,
Blue Seas, Canadian Maritime, Canadian Steamship, Chilean, Chilena, CNC,
Cloumbia Coastal, Cosco Americas, Evergreen America, Evergreen Marine, FAGSA, Hanjin, Hapag Loyd, Maersk Sealand, Nordstar, Seaboard Marine, Solid, Star, TA.  Signs on all four sides.  174'w x 82'h.  Use front or back face for heading. Textures to main FS texture folder.  API folder to Airport for Windows. Abacus FSDSA, Paint Shop Pro, Microsoft Paint.

I put the textures in the texture folder of F/S 2002, i just don't understand what to do with the folder of API's, this was a free download from somewhere that i got weeks ago. Thanks for helping. Kev.

Hi Kev. API files are not a direct addon for FS2002. They're buildings & other 3D objects for use by scenery designers. You would need the programs I mentioned to add them to the scenery.

You can always download ready-made scenery & install it to FS2002. Many of the files posted in the Scenery section use these objects.
