I would like to known, whith is the ideal distance NM to runway, for to begin the wind leg, with the Caravan, in Fsim 2002.
Pealse send me all information about approach, descent and wind leg, because I have many difficult to do it.

umm wind leg....

well there's a departue, crosswind, downwind, base, and final leg.  All of these are flown 1/2 mile (not nm, mile) off of the runway.  I would give you a detailed step by step on traffic patterns but I'm sure someone here can give you a link...

If they don't I'll be back and I'll give you info, it's just it's basically impossible to explain a traffic pattern well without a diagram.

I have a related question to this post (and it's basic):  I understand traffic pattern basics and air traffic instructions, but when they tell me (on approach to an airport) to "fly left downwind" or "fly right downwind", i am confused. i know what "downwind" means, I just dont understand which side you enter from...whose left or whose right do they mean?? thanks

Ahhh. Ok. Lets say youre approaching runway 9 from its left side. And the traffic pattern is a left standard. So you'd intercept the downwind leg on the left side of RW 9. Other times, it may be a right standard pattern, and Then they would give you instructions to enter "right crosswind".

Basically, it means make left turns in the pattern.  Simple.  If they say "make right downwind", enter it from a side (on a 45 degree angle of course) where you will be making right turns in the pattern.

Being a student pilot comes in handy!  I never used to know this much!  :D
