Great Places to fly to in FS2002

Postby Northwest 102 » Sun Oct 31, 2004 12:17 am

I'm wondering where some of the most enjoyable places to fly in FS2002 are. Please list places in the US first and world second.
I really haven't flown much out of the US other than from Minneapolis St. Paul direct to Amsterdam and back again via Washington D.C.
Are there any fun places to fly to in South America?  Can you fly over the Rain Forest?

Any information would be great!  looking for new places to fly.

Please name any airports outside the US which are near a great place to fly that have a runway long enough for either a boeing 747-100 of MD-11.  Nearest Intl. would be best.

Hiya NW102

Here are a few that come to mind:

(1) The inland water ways that rim the coast of Alaska all the way from the Aleutians down thru Ketchikan and on into Vancouver (yes, I know Vancouver is in Canada!  ;D ).

(2) A trip down or up the Colorado River- the American Southwest. Try following the San Juan river west from Four Corners until it meets the Colorado River in Glen Canyon and then follow the Colorado from there all the way down thru the Grand Canyon, Lake Meade and on thru to the Gulf of California.

(3) The Sierra Nevada Mountain Range from North to South- try a trip from Lake Tahoe down to Bishop vis Yosemite and Mamoth.

(4) The Rockies- lots of great places-  try a flight from Jackson, Wyoming to Bozeman, Montana.

(5) Try a trip down California's Coast Range- say from Eureka to Barkerville.

Heck, the list is endless! Have fun!

Cheers,
Chris

PS: IMHO, if you aren't using FSNavigator-  I strongly recommend it to you! ;D

Plus, I have a copy of Encarta Virtual Globe on my puter- I get ideas for new flights all the time from it.

Also- I make liberal use of the local weather downloads as I fly along.

Cheers,
Chris

Ya, what Maskrider said.

I start most often at CYVR, Vancover Intl, flying the coastal water ways and ranges to the north and south. Also up the Frazier river to explore the interior of British Columbia..

As for the Grand Canyon, you can either enjoy the scenery flying the rim, or test your skills flying the floor. Start from Boulder City, 61B, at the south end or Page Muni, KPGA at the north.

The scenery can be awsome if you install new scenery mesh's, like the '70m mesh' or Holger Sandmann's BC meshes, both available on Simviation.

Cheers,
Dave

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

If you fly around the San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach area of CA you can see the Hearst Castle and some strange mexican villa mansion nearby as well as a very small rough landing strip patch. (maybe a MS' designers mansion and private airstrip?)

the history of FS since FS2 for Commodore 64 does have some easter eggs sights now and then.
