FS 2002 Pro.

Hi Lads...!

...a little bit of a problem..
(Isn't there always)...?
LOL...!

..anyway..

Each time I do a complete new re-install of my FS 2002, with everything set to my best settings, (generally Max), my ATC traffic set to 100%, or whatever, the ground and skies are full of AI aircraft, and ATC are full of annoying chatter...as they do...!

Now...

After I have installed my various add-ons to FS 2002, all my AI traffic is competely non-existant, both in the air and on the ground!

My various add-ons:

FS Navigator.
Lago Flight Sim Scenery Enhancer, (FSSE), populating my airfields.
FSUIPC.
Gerrish Greys Trees.
New road textures.
California accurate DEM meshes.
Santa Rosa to San Diego area, (California Pacific Coast), scenery meshes.
Los Angeles Airport,(KLAX), add-on scenery.
Weather Maker.
Runway Maker.
FSSC created extra NDB add-ons.
Water effects. (Flight Water Pro).
Various 3rd. party aircraft, ships, vehicles, etc.
Plus a few little odds and sods to enhance California and the surrounding area...(Sun, sand, beach babes, etc...)...LOL...!

All the default aircraft, Boeings, etc, are in my hangar, as they should be, but now they do not appear as AI traffic anymore, in the air, on the ground or as ATC reports in the skies...!!
Setting ATC to 100% makes no effect. (100% also appears in the FS 2002.cfg file).
All the boxes, etc are ticked in Options > Settings > ATC, and the slider set to 100% traffic.

Note: I have tried going to other airports to look for AI traffic....nuffin'....!

Any idea what could have altered in the program to exclude all AI traffic after including my add-ons...?

It's very quiet up here at the moment, and not much going on down there either...!
...peace reigns supreme...!
LOL...LOL...LOL...!

Here is a pic showing the lack of aircraft at San Francisco International...
Which is normally extremely busy...!
No amount of tweakin' and fiddlin' will make those Boeings appear...!

Image

Thanks for any tips... ;)...!

Cheers Lads...!

Paul.

P.S. ...just a thought..Before I un-installed FS 2002, I saved a copy of my Aircraft Folder to my desk top, (default and add-ons). Then after re-intsalling FS 2002, I replaced all the aircraft in my saved Folder to the FS 2002 default Aircraft Folder, over-writing everything....
I wonder...are the default aircraft also "flagged" as being AI aircraft...and over-writing them changes their use...?

Hi Paul. Have you still got an uncorrupted 'traffic.bgl' file?

Hi Dan...!
A quick search via the Start button, shows the "traffic.bgl" in my FS 2002\SCENEDB\ATC\scenery Folder....
It's 10.8 Mb in size....

It there a way to check if it's been corrupted, or modified in someway, during re-installing my add-ons...?

Cheers Dan... ;D...!

Paul..... (sword sharpener extraordinare).... ;)...!
LOL...!

P.S. I replaced the traffic.bgl file in my FS 2002/ ATC folder with the traffic.bgl file from CD No.2 disk....(10.8 Mb), in case it was corrupted...
still no luck..... :'(...!

I'm sorry to say it but in all of the times I've had this problem only a complete reinstall fixed it.
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
GeForce FX5200 256Mb
1GB DDR400 DC
Seagate 500Gb SATA-300 HDD
Windows XP Professional X64 Edition

That's right, I'm now using an AMD! I decided to give them another try and they

Hi Paul - sorry to hear of the problem. Have you had to reinstall FS2002 often? Apart from my hard drive crash last Christmas, I've never had to reinstall it. (Rapid noise of touching wood!)

Are you using Project AI (highly recommended if you're not)? Even if you're not, I'd recommend using Traffic Tools to decompile and then recompile your traffic.bgl and see if this makes any difference. I can't think of anything else that might affect it.

Good luck!

Hi Martyn.... ;)...!
The reason I re-install my FS 2002 is 'cos everytime I add my add-ons, (listed above), I keep loosing my AI aircraft....
It's a never-ending process.... :'(....!
LOL...!

I reckon one of these add-ons is mucking my AI traffic up... ;)...!
But which one...who knows... ::)...!
LOL...!

Cheers Martyn...!

Hm, interesting problem. Of your list above, I also have:

FSNavigator
FSUIPC
LAX addon scenery
Various 3rd. party aircraft, ships, vehicles, etc.

and haven't had any problems. I also have many of the Northern US and Europe meshes from this site, and also the payware Just Flight South of England photoreal scenery, plus various other sceneries like the Caribbean, London etc. There's also modules like AutoSave, ActiveCamera 2002 which are integrated and don't cause any issues. The only non-integrated addon I have used is Traffic Tools for adding extra flights to the traffic system, and there have been no problems there either.

Perhaps one way to do it might be to uninstall FS2002 completely, addons and all (making sure you've got backups fo course!). Perhaps leaving the addons in place after you uninstall causes a hiccup on reinstallation. It might help to remove these completely and reinstall a clean 'base' version that the traffic works in. Then reinstall the addons one by one, making sure the traffic is still there until you come across the culprit.

Good luck!
;)

Hi Martyn....!
I'm rapidly approaching 71 now, and I don't think I can last long enuf' to complete your suggested list of cures... :'(...!
LOL...LOL...LOL...!

...Mind you....at least I don't have ATC prattling on in my headphones all the time contacting other aircraft..... ;)...!
(It's just that the airports/airfields are bare)... :o...!

Pah! 71 is no age! Just a youngster! (Mind you, I feel authorised to say that at the tender age of 51!)

I know what you mean, though. When my drive crashed it took me days of toil to get everything how it was with 2002. Better actually, as the Project AI stuff had all been updated.

Might be an idea to install a Project AI airline or two, just to see it you get any results.

Fozzer,

Going back to your original post.  Did you mean that all default aircraft are in your Aircraft folder, but all have been overwritten with new textures and the aircraft.cfg files were revised accordingly?

When I changed all the default textures about two years ago, I seem to remember that the AI went away unless the new textures were named texture, texture.1 and texture.2.

Also, the titles may have to read Paint 1 or Paint 2, etc.  Look at the original aircraft.cfg and follow that format.

That seemed to work for me.  Hope this helps.

Regards,
JerryH

Fozzer,

Whenever I have a problem with missing AI traffic, the first thing I always do is check the fs2002/Aircraft folder to make sure the file "default.dp" is still there.  If it isn't, then it can be extracted from the .CAB file on fs2002 Disk 1.

However, if you believe the that one of your scenery add-ons is causing the problem, with fs2002 open go into Settings and then Scenery Library and try disabling each of your add-ons to see if the traffic re-appears.

Good luck!

Hi Lads....!
Fantastic feeling to get enthusiastic replies back again, as always... ;D...!

Hi Jerry....!
Most of the Default AI planes are Boings Boeings, (jet-propelled cigar tubes, as I call them), and as I always fly GA prop planes, I tend to avoid getting involved with them, including altering them... 8)...!

Cheers Jerry...!

Hi Erik...!
A quick check...the "default.dp" file is where it should be... :)...!
I think I will do as you suggested and dis-able my scenery add-ons one by one and see what happens...
...it's a funny old do... ;)...!

Cheers Erik...!

Thanks lads for all your suggestions....
I'll post a reply as soon as I get it sorted...
....trust me.... ;D...!
LOL...!

Cheers Lads... 8)...!!

Paul.

...In the meantime, working on a headache remedy for Jordan as well.... ::)...!
...never a dull moment... ;D...!

Hi Lads...!
Finally found the problem after de-selecting some of my add-on scenery stage by stage.... :o...!
The problem finally came down to my LAGO FSSE add-on objects for all my airfields...!!
I had a choice, either display my add-on scenery and loose my AI aircraft and ATC, or display my AI aircraft and ATC and loose my add-on scenery....
BUGGAR... >:(...!
At the moment, after all the years I have been populating my airfields with LAGO's objects, (you will have noticed in my screen shots), I am having to loose them all just to get AI working properly...!
BUGGAR, BUGGAR...!
Quite why scenery objects should interfere with AI and ATC, I don't know....must have a word with the lads on the LAGO Forum... ::)...!

Cheers all... ;D..!

Paul.

P.S. Will keep you posted on any news in case someone out there is having similar problems... ;)

Hi Lads...!

P.S. Will keep you posted on any news in case someone out there is having similar problems... ;)

Sorted, SORTED, SORTED!.... ;D...!
Before I un-install my Flight Sims, I first save all my add-ons: Aircraft, gauges, effects, scenery, etc.... :)....!
Then, when I have re-installed the flight sim I move all my add-on bits and pieces back into their correct folders...!
BUT....!
In the case of LAGO's Flight Sim Scenery Enhancer, (FSSE), the program HAD to be downloaded, (all 29 Mb!), and re-installed again, otherwise it conflicted with the default ATC and default AI aircraft.... :'(....!
....don't ask me why... ::)...!

Anyway, all is a bed bed of roses now..... ;D...!
All my FSSE generated airfields, and my ATC, and my AI aircraft are all present and correct again....SIR.... 8)...!

Cheers Lads....!
...thanks for listening....LOL...LOL...LOL... ;D...!

Paul.... 8)...!

P.S. Interestingly...FS Navigator did not require downloading, and re-installing again... ;)...!
