Can FS2k2 and FS9 co-exist?

Postby chief1995 » Sun Jul 25, 2004 5:42 pm

Is it possible to have both FS2k2 and FS9 on same drive? The reason I hate to do away with FS2k2 is that I have a lot of add-ons that I dont what to lose !

Thanks,

Chief

Yes.  I have them both running with no problems.  Just don't put them in the same folder or try to share files - although CfgEdit, installed in my FS2002 folder, doesn't seem to mind.

The M$ sims are all separate programs. I have most versions of FS & CFS installed for troubleshooting purposes. They all run quite happily alongside each other but I did have a few problems with FS9 & CFS3 conflicting with my earlier M$ sims when I first installed them. The No-CD patches soon fixed that.

although CfgEdit, installed in my FS2002 folder, doesn't seem to mind.

This is a matter of preference. I prefer to install my own FS utilities to a separate location. This makes things easier if I ever need to do a full Uninstall/Install of the sim for whatever reason. CfgEdit will install by default to its own directory - which is usually the most convenient location for any program. IMHO

Thanks,
So when I install FS9, it should install right below:
Microsoft games
            FS2002
            FS2004  ??

Will this automatically do that or do I have to tweak something?  if so what? ( I am still learning) I have already learned a lot, thanks to you guys!
