Autobrakes?

Well as the subject says, can someone give me an explanation? RTO I think is rejected take off I guess you put this on if you decide to reject the take off. Do 1/2/3/max just put the brakes on automatically as you land...the higher the number the more pressure?

Yes...you put RTO on for takeoffs...and the 1,2,3 do mean the more pressure...for example if you are landing during a rain storm you may want a higher #

So once the button has been put to 3 for example, when you land it will automatically brakes, or do you have to press something to work it?

I do not use the autobrakes feature all that much, i find that full reverse T and spoilers seem to work just fine.  Im not total positive but i think when on 3 or max it begins to brake just after the main gear touchdown... or is it when the nose gear touches      not sure.  short runways are about the only thing i use it for so im not a whole lot of help

yes the higher number the more braking pressure will be applied

Boeing 737 autobrakes:
Autobrake 1 = 4ft/sec decel rate
2= 5ft/second decel rate
3= 7.2 ft/second decel rate
Max= 14ft/ sec above 80kts
12ft/sec below 80kts
RTO= decel rate not controlled.

"Regarding the RTO...
The mode is armed when speed is greater than 90kts
Activated (ie spoilers extended) if speed  greater than 90kts and you retard the throttles to idle.
1-3, and MAX is the strength where MAX is hardest braking action.

The 767, for an example has a wider selection, RTO, DISARM, 1, 2, 3, 4, MAX AUTO and OFF. Max. manual braking is always stronger than max. autobrakes"

I have a plane that when RTO is set as soon as the mains clear the ground brakes are applied to stop the wheels from turning then the gear go up. I thought it stood for ROTATE on TAKEOFF.
