Dear Friends,

I have reinstalled FS2002; When I boot up the sim
a message appears; "ERROR 3RD PARTY SOFTWARE
TRAFFIC.DLL; I follow the instructions to disable this thing but the sim crashes back to my desktop;
I have not had this before, can anyone help me?
I'm desperate to get airbourne!!
Many thanks, in anticipation of your help

The way to solve this problem is one of two ways.
1) Delete the traffic.dll in the module folder

2) Or make a entry in your FS2002 cfg file as follows
    [Old Modules]
TRAFFIC.dll=1
I don not think it matters where you put it, but I usually put it towards the top

Make sure that the file names 8) are the same either all upper case lower case or mixed case. They have to match traffic.dll is not the same as TRAFFIC.dll
What the error is telling you is that the traffic.dll is not recognized or is old.

Dear garymbuska
thank you for your reply I have done as you said, the
message does not now appear. However, as soon as fs2002 starts it reverts back to my desktop.
I have tried all the compatability senarios with no joy.
Anymore suggestions?

Many Many Thanks

when you uninstalled flight sim last did you completely delete the folder? Microsofts uninstall only gets rid of the original files i believe, so any add-ons will usually be left behind. Its possible because of this the add-on is missing something else and isnt compatible with the current files. If you have nothing major to loose do a full delete of the folder and re-install again.
just a suggestion may work. others may know something quicker.

I have the same problem and have uninstalled the software and reinstalled with same problem. I have also done as suggested and deleted the FS2002 file completely in order to get rid of any add ons. I have then reinstalled FS2002 from scratch just to get the same problem. Any suggestions or help would greatly appreciated.

Since posting my original problem I have now found the solution on the Microsoft FS2002 help site.
