fly towards the wind but travel slower than the windspeed
Quote from FS2000 manual
Fly backwards: In the weather dialog box, set the wind to be greater than the regular cruising speed of the aircraft you're flying. Once you're in the air, observe yourself actually flying backwards. Good luck trying to land!

Zorg only helicopters can fly backwards.
The nearest equivilant would be something like taking the Extra 300 and giving it full throttle and getting the nose up to 90'. Then cut the throttle, you should with a little practice be able to hold her on a reverse decent ;)

did that only work in FS2000 then? It sounded like a bug to me and MS were marketing it as a fun feature  :P

Should be able to do it in a Piper Cub. I've seen the great Stanley Segalla do it for real. http://fotodj.com/pages/rhinebeck/Ca0041d.htm

You can set the wind and do it that way, but its a little unrealistic.
That said some time back we all got into this with "What can you land on a roof". I managed a perfect touchdown in an An-225 ;D Beyond Dr. Freud and into really bok 8) ;D

Ah - I think you mean Pushback.
Shift + P to go back. Press 1 or 2 to turn left or right. (Keyboard numbers - not Num Pad.)

ya it does.....

Hold the shift down, and hit the P. A/C will begin to back. To turn Left (occurs after 1 plane length) press top row '1' or for Right turn press '2'.

If in 'spot view' must be behind a/c or turning will not work.

Shift + P again to end pushback.

Cheers,
Dave

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

And, don't forget to release brakes.

PS: There are lots of mad people here ( :o ;D), somebody asks for a pushback and you explain how to fly and land backwards  :o. I wonder what willl you tell if he asks how to fly a reverse hold  ;D ;D ;D. (just jk  ;D)
I'm trying to land
This aeroplane of ours gracefully
But it seems just destined to crash

You don't have to be in spot view for turning to work.

Also, make sure to press 1 or 2 immediately after pressing Shift+P.  Once the aircraft has pushed back one full length of the plane, the turn will begin.
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

.

My mistake here. IF in spot view, dont have to be behind, just dont pan once pushback is started.

Also, make sure to press 1 or 2 immediately after pressing Shift+P.

As long as you dont press any other keys or alter your view after Shft-P you can use the 1 and 2 keys to begin, interrupt
