Abrupt barometric pressure changes...

Postby RFB » Thu Apr 22, 2004 2:12 pm

Has anyone else noticed that the barometric pressure in some areas abruptly changes during flight? I noticed this extensively while flying over England. Seems the pressure changes so rapidly back and forth that ATC does not like this and tells me to climb or descend to proper altitude.

A bug perhaps? Or something done on purpose to make us go nutz, like that sudden jerk on aircraft when your on short final at every single airport.

I have noticed the last problem, and put it down to my low FPS...

Although I have not done much flying over england I do not understand why that area would be different than any other. A couple of questions come to mind.
Are you using real weather or any other kind of automated weather program such as wetter2000.
Are you using FSUIPC if so check out the weather settings in it.
What is your FPS rate.
I never had this problem when I flew FS2002
Try different regions such as US or Africa to see if the problem follows you. 8)

If you'd ever seen or experianced English weather you would know why the barometric pressure changes happen so fast. ;)

The only time I have experienced the barometric problem was when I got bored with good weather and dialled in a storm or two, almost immediately I got the message to press button "b"to reset my altimeter.    I must point out however that this was in FS9, never ever struck that in FS2002.

Very whitty replies! :D

Ive noticed other sudden barometric pressure changes over Italy and towards the west section of Russia. Im not positive if this changes location or not, but Im guessing its just some little quirk going on. I dont think its framerate, I have a hefty game pc with a more than adequate video card (possibly too much power)!

I just wanted to see if anyone else ran into this. It only seems to be a problem with ATC....well my passengers get an up/down ride! :o
