Hi all, I downloaded a gauge I would like to use but I don't know what to do with extraction syntax, or what it's for. can someone help me with this?

I don't understand your question.  It might be easier if you just point us to where you downloaded the gauge.

If the file is a .zip file you will need to unzip it, preferably to a temporary directory, and it will usually come with instructions on how to use it.

After you unzip it you should have either,

1. A .gau file.  Just copy it into your gauges folder.

2. A .cab file.  Just copt the entire file into your gauges folder.  Don't unzip it again.

3. A folder containing things like .xml files and .bmp files.  Just copy the entire folder into your gauges folder.  DO NOT extract the individual files into your gauges folder.

Hi Jim, thanks for the reply. I downloaded this gauge- dfdadi84 it is an AI gauge and the read me file said to copy the gauge file to gauges folder (easy enough) it then said the extraction syntax is (dfd_adi84a!adi84a) this is the part I don't understand. Does this have something to do with installing it into the aircraft I want to use it in.
                         Thanks for your Help.  Joe

// This Panel.cfg file created by CfgEdit
gauge00=panel!Panel_norm,  0,0,1024,768

gauge07=dfd_adi84a!adi84a,  ?,  ?,  ?, ?
-------------------------------------------------------------
gauge08=195!altimeter,  600,380,120,119

THIS GAUGE HAS SOME PROBLEM IN FS 2002.
I would used the ADI one from
 Lake Renegade 270 (rsdgrenegade270.zip)
XML copy of same gauge.

Hi Joe,

Couple places to check out:

FS2002 SDK's, for the 'panels and gauges' sdk.
http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/fs2002_downloads_sdk.asp

Simviation's Help and Tutorials page.
http://www.simviation.com/fshelp.htm

Cheers,
Dave

And definitely get a (free) copy of CfgEdit - it's on the Panel help page or at cfgedit.com.
