Copy crack

Postby Dan » Sat Mar 06, 2004 2:28 pm

My FS2k2 Disks don't look all that well of and I want to make a safeguard copy that I can install from. I understand that that is legal, and I don't know if I need a crack? Does any one else?
Thanks, Dan

Hi Dan. I believe it is legal to make a backup copy of disks for your own use although I've never had any success at doing this myself. I'm wondering why your FS2002 disks should be in such a state. FS2002 will run happily without a CD in the drive. My own CDs are sitting happily on the shelf in the same pristine condition as when I first got them. ::)

It's not that they are in a state now - I just don't want to risk them! Mine runs without a CD too, but I seem to be on one reinstall every two months!

P.s.I am just taking a short break from working on the extra 300!  ;)

I've never had occasion to need a copy.  I suppose I am lucky because I have only had to install once, although I doubt with all the addons and whatnot there is very much left of my original installation.  I have had to extract a few files from CD from time to time but that's about it.  Compared to a music CD mine have hardly any wear and tear.

I have no doubt that the original cd's are copy protected but any copy protection can be broken.  It all depends on your existing cd writers and what you are willing to pay for after that.

Roxio and Nero are supposed to be pretty good at exact copies.  If those don't work for you there are other progs (like isobuster - a freebie - just Google for it) that can take snapshots of cd's.

Your question goes beyond just making a copy of FS - I have never tried it so I don't know which method may or may not work.

Roxio is incredible. I backed up FS2002 and Medal of Honour (were talkin probably 2 gigs of stuff altogether if not more) in less than 10 minutes. I was happy. ::) It is good to keep a backup, but you really don't need it. After I made my backup I lost them, but better them than the real CDs. :P ::)

SlySoft offers a 21 day trial of CloneCD (do a google for it) which should also do the trick.

Cheers,

I have got Nero with a 40*12*40 LG CD-RW drive. I had to copy a Hidden and Dangerous CD before and it wouldn't start without a replacement *.exe. Could I d/l Roxio, or Clone CD do it with out a crack?

Hi Dan,

For clonecd: Do a google for clonecd.

D/l clonecd from the Slysoft.com link.

Then d/l ClonyXL from the clonecd.net link. It will ID the copy protection and pass it on to Clonecd. If you run XP you may also need ForceASPI17, also available from CloneCD.net. (You'll find it at the bottom of the main CloneCD page.)

Cheers,
Dave

I always keep backup copies of my original games and I always use CloneCD. It has never failed even in situations where nothing else worked. It may take more time if the lock is complex but it will do the job.
