which a/c have smoke by default?

Postby satz » Sun Mar 07, 2004 6:57 pm

HI all,

another newbie question about FS2002...

I believe the "I" key is used to activate engine smoke?

But I can't seem to see any smoke on the planes I've tried....jets and props...

All my graphics settings are set to max (or close to max)

Is this something I need to 'add' or should be in the original package?

many thanks again

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

HI Dave,

thanks for that...Will try the "Extra'.

But what about engine smoke, like on 747s?

Is that only available with some of the downloadable user-created aircraft, or should it also be visible on the default aircraft?

Mine doesn't seem to show any smoke trails...

cheers

You wont see engine smoke except for a small puff at startup.

If your talking about contrails, the high altitude vapor trail, by default these only appear above 30,000 ft asl.

There are downloads in the fs2002 Misc. section that offer enhancements to these, I believe.

Cheers,
Dave

Thanks Dave,

I'm beginning to realise that FS2002 seems to be "fitted for, but not with" a lot of stuff!!!

Will search for the suitable downloads

cheers

Forgot about an engine smoke add for the Boeing heavies. Nice effects and might give you your first intro working with .cfg files. Txt file also explains how to add to other a/c.

The download file name is Shop_fx.zip, found here:

By design I'm sure.

For many, including myself, the thing that keeps the game fresh is the near endless stream of excellent enhancements that  the community of talented designers provide for us. To them all I extend a sincere, if all to infrequent, Thankyou!!!!!!!

On the new Jets and Turboprops you never really get any engine smoke anyway unless something is quite wrong. Its the older Aircraft that has engine smoke like the 727, 1-11, 707, 737-200 oh and not forgetting the Russian Aircraft but thats another story.

That wasn't really engine smoke. Thats just where they dumped the overhead exaust ports from the 'Smoking Section'. :)
