Postby bm_727 » Tue Mar 02, 2004 9:10 pm

How can I make it so that my AI planes don't show up in the aircraft slection window??

Some of my AI planes say that they wont be visible in the window but they still are...

Edit the offending planes' aircraft.cfg file so these lines are blank (example), from this:

ui_manufacturer=Cessna
ui_type=C172SP Skyhawk

to this:

ui_manufacturer=
ui_type=

First you need AirEd, a freeware program.  It allows you to edit the airfiles in FS, which are located within each aircraft file folder.  They, along with the aircraft.cfg file, tell FS how an aircraft acts.  The files are all differently named, but they will always end with *.air.  For instance, the stock 747s airfile is named boeing747-400.air.

Once you have downloaded and installed AirEd, you can open any of the airfiles.  Open the airfile of any of the aircraft you wish to make non-flyable and find the entry that reads "105 *Aircraft Type=0" and click on it.  Enter the number 2 in its place and press enter.  Exit and save, then open FS.  There aircraft should now be unavailable in the FS menu.  To make AI planes flyable, just reverse the process.

That just puts it under the category "Unspecified", it doesn't take it out of the menu.

Oops.  You're right. It's been a while since I've had anything Unspecified.

at first I thought about that, but ender is right.

However, is there any other way to make them non-flyable than having to d/l another utility ???

Not to my knowledge. Take Ender's advice. AirEd is a small download & easy to use.
