Weapons

Does anyone know of a really good weapons system that I can install for this simulator. I'm not interested in combat sims, I just want a good rocket or two to fire every now and then on some fighter. I have already got the one here on simviation, on the misc section. You know, it's called rocket effects. It is not bad, but I wondered if there is anything better anywhere else. Maybe you guys know of another good website that has one.

P.S Please don't mistake me as a terroist!!!!, Sometimes I just get fed up with that control tower that tells me to "fly around" because some other bloke wants to land, after I've just spent 15 minutes in trying to land! ;D ; ;).

I dont think there is any kind of add on that will give you what your looking for. After the 9/11 bit...MS did a bit of "house cleaning" in the flight sims in regards to crashing into buildings and such. There are some add ons that gives explosion effects if you were to crash your airplane, but I dont ever recall seeing any type of add on or mod for the sim that gives actual weapons effects in the way of blowing something up or shooting down other airplanes. MS didnt exactly have that in mind for these particular sims.

Im not sure if it is on the regular 2002 CD set, but on the 2002 Pro there is a combat flight sim you can run, which is mostly for multiplayer, but it does have single "freeflight" mode in where you can fly great WWII aircraft and bomb the heck out of enemy airfields and dog fight enemy fighters. Tho not exactly high end type combat sim, it is a great one to let out them frustrations. ;)

You could always try CFS2.

Check out Chris Trotter's effects page for some simulated weapons.  FS doesn't support real weapons.

It looks like Chris is having some growing pains at the moment.  http://www.geocities.com/chris20005649/

A lot of his effects are available in the SimV and other libraries and I think he did the rockets you described.  His effects are the best you will find.

Yah, but it seems like any designer these days can make a mod around that. M$ didn't really try very very hard to fix the game, they just did a quick patch pretty much and sent it out. I am sure they knew when they released it, but I think they know that there are people that like that and more than likely, they will not use it to practice hitting buildings. Flying in a sim is not even comparable to flying in reality.
