THRUST REVERSE DOES NOT WORK..

Postby f-16 » Wed Feb 18, 2004 3:21 pm

:( ??? ??? ??? >:( :'( :'(

I am having problems with my thrust reverse on my 737-900. When I land and hold down my F2 key, nothing happens. The reversers don't kick in. My Reverse_Thrust in the CFG is set to -70.

Also my AutoBrake is set to 3. Would this prevent the reversers from engaging? ??? ??? ??? :(

What would prevent my thrust reverse from engaging?

Does it work on other airplanes?
Great edit, Bob.

Good question. I will have to see if it does. I only use the 737-900 that I downloaded. ::)

I have just tested all default FS2002 airlines. On all of them the thrust reversers do not work. All of their Thrust_reverse settings are below -50. My 737-900 is set at -70.

Is there a fix? Am I doing something wrong in my CFG? :(

For some reason I only get reverse thrust when the speed is below 120Kts. They won't engage above that speed. ???

I have tried setting my Reverse_Thrust to -25, -50, -70, -90. Nothing works. They still won't engage until below 120Kts.

HELP! :(

Re-install. If that doesn't work, your best bet is good old M$ support division. :P

Wait.  Before you do a reinstall, make sure that you've got the reverse thrust assigned to the F2 key.  Trust me, stranger things have happened.

Yes the F2 key is programed for it. The reversers only engage when the speed is below 120Kts when I hold the F2 key down.

My brakes are wearing out!

So your reverse thrusters DO work?

Honestly, unless you're doing some crazy flying, you should be able to slow down to just a hair over 120 when you touch down anyway, so it wouldn't be much of a problem.

Set your flaps on approach, and then when you touch down deploy your spoilers, then your brakes.  You'll be at 120 before you know it, then hit your thrusters.

Yes even the bulky 747, with an approach reference (Vref) speed of 130kts at low weight can be at 120 after the flare, when the wheels hit the runway (the 777 can be flown SAFELY to 100knots on approach!!!). Try taking a turboprop up to about 3000 feet, getting up to 150 knots+, and try and reverse it's engines. Then update me on here. :(

I would think the reversers could be engaged as soon as I touch down (F2 key) at any speed. Not just below 120Kts. I usualy touch down between 120 and 130, with full flaps.

Regauardless I should be able to use the reversers at any speed when I land. Even if it is over 120. The reversers are not speed activated... Especialy when manualy used. (There is no auto reverse in my 737-900)

And like I said it does this in all FS2002 aircraft... default too.

What happens is when I touch down fully (all three wheels) I hold down the F2 key. The engines sort of grumble and don't spool up until 120Kts. Then they come alive and go full.

Are you using a joystick with a throttle?
If this is the case, make sure it's calibrated.
Sometimes I can't use my reversers because my throttle isn't calibrated correctly;
and it still reads throttle input when at idle thrust.

Ok, well like I said, try my turboprop experiment. Other than that, reinstall again with full delete of all folders, shortcuts, and files pertaining to FS2002. Turn off your joystick (yes it sucks but try it) and see if it works. There should be a slight time difference between the time you hit F2 and the time the reversers actually kick in (deployment, then the throttle is advanced). However it shouldn't be more than maybe 2-3 seconds. *shrugs* Running outta suggestions man, hope you get it fixed!

On another note, I know it's really off subject, but Autobrake 1 is more than suffecient on most approaches (which is all on FS2002, we need wet runways dammit!)
