F16 afterburner/reverse thrust

Postby paddlefoot64 » Sat Feb 14, 2004 10:08 am

My add-on F16 (Trabucco, et al) does not reverse thrust with
F2 nor does it kick in the afterburner with shift-F4. Does anyone know a fix for this?

Well, F-16's don't have thrust reversers,
and unless the the afterburner is built into the model or is an effect, it won't show up.

If you're looking to slow down really quickly during your landing roll, open up your spoilers...they, when combined with full brakes, will stop you rather quickly.
Great edit, Bob.

Thanks guys,
I now have tried spoilers and they do seem to work, though not every time.

Out of curiosity, at what speed are you going into your final?

The F-16 can fly pretty damn slow if you got the gas levels down enough. Similar to an A-320, which can do as low as 80 knots and be controllable. If you wish to have the afterburner on the F-16, go to the FS2002 main folder, click on FSEdit, do open, look for the F-16, click Flight Dynamics, Jet Engine, and click the check box that says afterburner. Then you can have a nice little boost of thrust when you want it. It's fine to modify the airplane like this as long as you don't distribute it, which requires most author's consent. If you open the F-16 file in FSedit and it's all grey, you gotta go to the F-16's file under Aircraft/F-16 (or whatever)/Aircraft.cfg. Rename it to Aircraft.cfg.txt, open it, change the line Editable=0 to Editable=1, save changes, close it, and change it back to Aircraft.cfg, then open in FSEdit and follow the instructions given above. Hope this helps!

On a second note, though the real F-16 does not have it, you can also click the box right next to "Afterburner" called "Thrust Reversers" and then have thrust reversing if you are really having trouble landing it.
