ADF & Traffic Mode

Postby PSW » Sat Oct 18, 2003 8:21 pm

Hello,

1.With the radio for landing, you use ILS,NAV & APR. How can you find out the ADF (Automatic Direction FInder) ? It doesn't show up on the Flight Map Display.

2.Can you adjust how many AI Traffic you want in FS2002 ?

Thanks.

I can't help with the ADF but if you do a search on Google for Project AI you can add a great deal of AI traffic to the sim.  Also download TTools by Lee Swordy, this will allow you to add any traffic you want and comes with excellent documentation to help you dow it.  I have regular flights of Lancasters flying around England.

The ADF is an instrument you can use with an NDB (non directional beacon).
If you tune your ADF radio to the frequency of an NDB (shown on the flightmap) the needle of the ADF will point to it. So all you have to do is turn untill the needle points up and you're going straight towards the NDB.
Very simple really.
It's different from a VOR, because a VOR you can track on a certain radial - which you can not do with a NDB as it doesn't transmit radials.
Hope this helps.

o and for the AI traffic:
In the game, in the "options" menu select "settings" then "ATC" (in the startup screen this would be "settings" and next "Air Traffic Control")
and adjust the slider to the setting you want. 100% will give you maximum AI traffic, 0% gives you non.
Cheers

Doh!  I forgot about that.  Too busy being clever LOL.  Cheers AJ :)

Hi
Not sure what you're question is.
If you need the frequency of the stations you can tune the ADF to: in the flightmap you will find NDB's. Clicking on them will show their name and frequency.
Next open the radiostack, look for the ADF radio and tune it to the frequency of the NDB you want to fly to.
Make sure the ADF-radio is switched on.
It's not really different from a VOR or com radio....

I suggest you take a look at the articles and video's in the simulator help section (keywords navigation, ADF etc) because understanding the instruments is really necessary if you want to use them. The help section will give you far more and better information than I can.

Good luck
