My textures go all blocky after ALT + TAB

Postby IRN_BRU » Thu Oct 16, 2003 1:14 pm

Hi

I have a problem with my textures.  If I press alt and tab to switch back to windows (to setup internet or something) when I press alt tab to go back to FS my textures are all blocky  :o Not all the textures, things like the trees are now black boxes with a tree inside, wingtip lights are block boxes, runway lights too, the wording at the bottom of the screen like "parking brake on" is red writing in a black box.  Its very strange  >:( i never had this problem before  ???  I could re-install the sim but maybe someone knows a quick fix  ;)

Thanks in advance.

What card and drivers are you using?

I have a GeForce 3 Ti 200. Had EXACTLY the same problem with the latest 45.33 drivers.

Went back to 44.03, problem solved.

From now on I stay with the old drivers because I think the newest NVidia drivers favour the latest cards.

Just a thought....

Thats it! I got the same card and installed the latest drivers and got the problem, i hadnt been playing FS before I upgrade (or not since a month or so).  There is a way to fix it.  When you get back into the game and all the textures are crazy, go to the settings, display, hardware accel and change the filtering to off, then press ok, the textures go back to norm, then go back to the setting and change to bo or tri linear and they are back to normal, very strange!

Hopefully the next drivers will work, the beta version is out and showing go fps increase but im till full release.

Thanks

Yeah I found the same. But if you're constantly Alt-Tabing doing a series of screen shots you can't keep fiddling around with the display config.

I have my doubts about ANY new driver sets now. Hope I'm wrong, but I think NVidia are losing/have lost interest in 'legacy' cards. Their main concern is their battle with ATI/Radeon for the current performance video card market.

I need to get those 44.03 drivers but dont know where.  Most sites just give you the latest, the reason being that whn I rolled back my drivers from 45.23 I got 23.5.8 or something, I hadn't updated my drivers for about 2 years as I havn't been on the net, therefor I need the latest drivers that actually work, going by your reply it will be 44.03.  I'll keep searching but if anyone knows how?
Thanx

I've had similar problems, cured by making sure "Texture sharpening" isn't checked and ensuring the image settings are set to best quality.

Whilst this cures this problem with my GF FX5600 the problem remains with my pIII / GF MX440 #2 machine....

Hope this is of use.

assign a key combo(example: ctrl-shift-r) to the 'reload' option. will cause a delay, but fixes the problem
