Engine failure

Postby lib319 » Sun Oct 05, 2003 1:38 pm

I've got the Dessault Caea Falcon set for a random engine failure.  When this happens is it possible to just start it again.  ie, its not really a failure more of  a shutdown.

This happened yesterday and I was able to just start the engine again, I'm wondering if it was pilot error though and I managed to switch it off by accident.

I've had engine failures where I'm able to restart, and I've had some where it doesn't restart...I think it's probably programmed into the failure somehow to be random...
Great edit, Bob.

I had a strange thing happen one day last week, when I was flying from EBBR to LEBL,for Virgin Va.I was about an Hour into the flight, when I had a low oil pressure come on for engine No 1.
I shut it down for a while, then re-started,but it still showed low oil pressure in engine no 1.
What I decided to do was to divirt to LTSU, and declared it as an Emergency Landing.
My flight to LEBL should have been 2hrs 05 mins.
I logged it as a 1 hour flight, but there was no where in the Preps report for me to record that I had to land at LTSU (the nearest airport) to where I was.

How are you starting the plane - manually, or automatically with ctrl+e ?

If you don't do it absolutely correctly the manual way, I think eventually it will run out of power. I've had several planes do this to me.

In what way will it run out of power?  I have tried lots of times to kill my cessna's engine by runing long distances at full power but it never even tries to overheat.

Is there a way built into the sim of hurting the aircraft without using the system failures option?

I think this all goes back a few weeks to the thread I was a part of where we were creating a "wish list" of what we'd like to see in a "Mayday" type add-on that would enhance your inflight emergencies.

If someone is able to program it, pleeease do so.  lol

Hi all

In "P C Pilot Sept / Oct issue (no24) they review "Alert" which gives totally random failures to engines and airframe, as well as monitoring your flying :o too rough with the stick and the plane gets bent! ;D possibly still flyable insted of just getting "aircraft overstressed" and resetting. :) This costs
