Planes not lining up on runway

Postby mikec » Tue Sep 30, 2003 4:36 pm

For various reasons I had to reload fs2002 and now when my planes load they are not center line on runway. All planes are this way ,the nose gear is to the left of line. I've not had this problem before.  All my planes want to run off of the left of the runway if I don't correct. I realize that some prop planes naturaly want to go left, but I've not had this problem with jets. Does one of you gurus have a fix for this? It seems I've seen it discussed on the forum in the past , but I can't seen to find it.

Hi
This may be totally not the solution to the problem but I'll tell you anyway.

I had the same problem once. Turned out I had saved a flight when on autopilot and made it "default flight". From then on every flight I started would have the autopilot engaged. This made every plane turn towards the selected heading as soon as it started rolling.....took me a long time before I noticed the autopilot was active on take-off. Stupid hu :P.
I guess that's why there are checklists. I couldn't have made such a mistake if I went through them ;D.
So just to be sure: autopilot disengaged?

Cheers

Is it all runways or just one ?

I have a couple of "add-on scenery additions" to default
runways that give this effect.

Check the wind direction when taking off,it may be a default flight thing as well.

As far as being centreline on the runway I wouldn't worry too much as long as you're on the runway ;D

The other thing is,are you looking at the runway from the cockpit view and then changing to spot view? If you are then you will find with different aircraft and addon panels that the two views will not coincide. To centreline the aircraft taxi it in spot view to line up the nosewheel on the centreline. Go back to cocpit view and have a look at where you see the line from there.
Next find a reference point on the panel that lines up with with the centreline(I use the outermarker light on one panel and the end of the upper control section on another) This will give you reference points to maintain centre(not applicable in windy conditions 'til you straighten up to touch down) It will help you correct on takeoff and give you an advantage at touch down-yes you can put the nosewheel on the centreline :)
White on White fly all night.

Red on White you're alright.

Red on Red you'll soon be dead.

Had the problem before... It's just the game sometimes. Perhaps you should check some of your settings...

Thanks for all of your ideas and thoughts, it turned out to be the default flight. I deleted all my flights and started over and problem is corrected.
Thanks again Mikec.

glad you found out mike
Next time:  no need to delete all your flights. Just create a flight like you want your flights to start (engines running or shut down, avionics on or off etc), press ";" , give it a name and check the box "make default flight". You can still create any flight from any place you want but your plane will be in the state you saved it.
