Vultee BT-13 (continued)

Postby burcham8 » Thu Sep 25, 2003 8:04 am

Guys --

I tried the model repair utility and am now able to call up the file and fly the BT-13...with one glaring catch.
Everytime I shift views and then come back into the cockpit, the engine shuts off.  This is wierd, but I have seen it happen in other FS98 planes.  Is there a fix, an alteration I can make to the cfg. file?  Anything?
The Captain Slug BT-13 is the only option I've been able to find.

Glad you fixed it. Does the engine actually stop or is it the sound? If it has its own panel I can only assume the problem is connected with this rather than the AIR file. You could try aliasing it to a default or try another panel.

PS. The extra FS2002-style Aircraft.cfg entries of FS98 aircraft are copied from the AIR file when you first select it in the sim. These can be edited to make it show up under Vultee on the menu rather than Unspecified.

Here's what I found searching for "BT-13" on SimV:

Looks pretty good from the accompanying screenshot, but I don't know as I have never flown anything but the Texan.  From what I can tell, it is an update of an FS98 model.  Try it out, instead of using that antiquated one.

Snap Ender. I just did a search & found the same one. It's by Captain Slug so I think this is the one Burcham is using. I downloaded it to check it out. Despite what it says in the file description, the panel & sound are both aliased so bang goes my theory. ::)

Guys --

The a/c in the picture is a the Hughes H-1 racer, a good flying a/c which I had for a while in my hangar (flew it out of KEDW).

To answer the question, the entire engine shuts off when I return to the cockpit view.

I have, however, loaded a new cockpit into the file, rather than use the default one.  I think I'll delete what I have, load it again w/o the extra panel and see what happens.

Which picture are you talking about?  The one I use as my avatar?  Yes, that is the H-1b, and I have been working on a model for ACOF and 2k2 for awhile.

If you mean the one in the link I provided, there is no H-1b on that page.  The one I was talking about was the fifth aircraft from the top.  Its a BT-13, and I was suggesting that as a way to upgrade from the FS98 model.  It would probably work better in 2k2 since the model was designed for 2000.

Just a thought, but if you really want to use that model you already have, by all means, go ahead.

Good luck! ;)
