FS 2002 Aircraft Editor

Postby ysteinbuch » Sun Sep 14, 2003 8:47 am

Hi, folks

Perhaps someone can help me figure out what happened to FS2002 Aircraft Editor. When I try using it I get an error message about a problem with fsedit.exe. It says: "fsedit.exe has ancountered a problem and needs to close." I do recall getting some sort of indication of a problem with fsedit.exe when I was logging off a couple of days ago. The bottom line is I can't use the Aircraft Editor. By the way, it's not necessary to use it when downloading aircraft, right? The downloads appear in FS2002 after I put them into the aircraft folder of 2002. What is the Aircraft Editor actually used for, then? Thanks.

No, you don't need the M$ editor to download and fly planes.

The M$ editor has to be the Most Useless Addon that I've come across for FS2002. It was (I think) intended to edit flight characteristics found in aircraft.cfg and .air files, but has more bugs than MI6!

It is far more useful (and more logical) to edit the .cfg file using M$ Notepad, and the .air file using AirEd, available on the downloads pages. That way, you also get a fair insight into how FS works.
