Anyone els experience this with ATC???

Hello fellow aviator's,

Just curious, on most flight's, big or small, I have ATC adjust my heading for about 5-10 seconds before requesting that I return to the original heading.

For example; In cruise, I'm heading 120 degrees as instructed, out of know-where, ATC then requests me to turn 060 degrees, as soon as I've intercepted and am established on the 060 degree heading, they then instruct me to return to the original 120 degree heading doing nothing else but leaving a jaggerd lines throughout my Flight Analysis.

I know it's sound bad if all I'm flying for is for a perfect analysis, which I can assure you I'm not... but just had to ask if anyone else has experienced this with ATC?

i get exactly the same every time

i assumed it was the norm

maybe a clever person ( which i`m not ) could shed more light on the matter

I'm no expert on the situation, but I think what's happening is that crosswinds are slowly blowing your aircraft off its course. ATC has noticed this and is trying to correct it by getting you to fly into the wind, and then turn back to your original heading, which will get you established back on the original course.

That's a very good explanation but it's funny how the crosswind dosen't vary in spped or direction as in this case, I've only ever been instructed to turn left,- what-ever direction my winds are set at.

Anyway, it's not that important, glad to hear everyone has this problem.

Bear in mind it's not REAL PEOPLE you're talking to.

This is a computer sim running on a desktop PC

M$ are the first as far as I'm aware to develop real time interactive software running on such a tiny platform that let's you fly into any airfield in the world (almost) from any direction at any speed and any altitude and GUARANTEES to line you up correctly on the localiser and glideslope EVERY TIME.

Obviously the approach part is triggered by certain events and this is one of the things that happens in order to confirm that your plane is on the correct 3 dimensional path that the system has computed in order to get you where you want to be.

It's a very small price to pay I think for what is actually an amazing piece of programming. Bearing in mind that it's also handling all the AI aircraft that are taking off and landing as well as yours, my mind still boggles at how effective it is

I agree Roger,

I feel M$ have done a fantastic job with FS and as I use it primarily for obtaining the basic principles on real life flying, M$ and Jeppessen have done a wonderful job of making the simulator as real as it is.
Sorry if you feel my above comment/s were inappropiate but I will never complian or rubbish M$ for what I think is a brilliant simulator.
