I also agree that we should do it on VATSIM. Perhaps they'd be willing to "shut down" a particular airport in order to accomodate the show.

It's not likely that they would close down the airport just for us, after all, Heathrow is one of the worlds busiest airports and shutting it down could cause a lot of confusion. Plus, to use vatsim you need squawk Box. As far as I know it generates AI traffic a well so mabye we are better off using FS Host

But is Heathrow a requirement?  There are lots of runways available that are long enough.  BGR is an example...it's an alternate for NASA.
Great edit, Bob.

Heathrow is not a Requirement but the show was originally at Norholt AB and Heathrow was the largest airport nearby. If we wanted an Airport with a lot of runways we would have picked O'Hare

Hmm, I think FSHost is the way to go with this.
With the warbirds I'm working with a couple of people on this. ATI is away on holiday this week (sailing in Holland, strange chap!), but I'm doing some Spitfire workups with Hawker Tempest, and I'll also be doing some formation biplane work with Fozzer this evening.
I'll let you know how things are coming along.
I think it best if to avoid err close encounters we only have one display airborne at a time.... and like Mitchel said one runway at Heathrow for take-offs, and one for landings. It'll keep things simple.
As for a date, this is going to take a fair bit of work to build up too... We're looking realistically at probably a minimum of a month from now.

I, personally, would seriously think twice of holding this event on VATSIM, apart from some other issues that are being discussed alse where in the SimV's forums (Easy Hyperion, just hear me out

FSHost is going to make things a lot smoother. On the other hand,if we want to use VATSIM,then we can use FAJS (Johannesburg International,South Africa).I'm probably the only regular controller down here so it won't be an issue to close the airspace.

I could be sure someone said earlier about concept AC. I have found a very nice plane still in development and could ask the designer if he wants to release it at the show it's at http://hometown.aol.de/_ht_a/docmoriarty3/fs2002/en/index.html

No, I'm not at all suggesting that we MUST have it on the VATSIM network.  I'm just suggesting that because it's really the only one that I use.  If you guys think FSHost will work best, I'm saying go for it!

I wasn't suggesting a lot of runways, I was saying that there are lots of them in the world that are quite long, and could very easily accomodate heavies and other long roll types.

I agree though, that only one aircraft or team should be airborne at a time.  That will cut down on accidents tremendously.  Especially the way some of us (no names mentioned) fly.  lol

Another thought I had would be to invite a representative from the different VA's to have one of their aircraft on static display.

Nice idea Scott, but we've already established that this will eat frame rates quite badly. Better that the viewers have a front page to go through to link up and it has VA/sponsors logos on it.

I like your idea better.  lol

Would it be at all possible for us to score some scenery designers who could make some special airshow type scenery?  Just little tents, audiences, seating, etc?  Might be a good plug for them too.  (And it would look cool.)  I don't know anything about this, so I'm not sure how to do it or how it would affect framerates.  (Could even do some VA banners and such...)

I was just wondering if the a/c that are listed on EirePlane's site will be the only ones allowed.  I know that there is a F-35 JSF amoung others that would be interesting to see here.

Well, it's not my call, I'm merely (and sadly) a follower in this venture.  But it's got my vote!   ;)
