Even if you don't have a mic get RW anyway,its cool to listen in on the teams calling the maneuvers.

Regarding the framerate: we put together a special csl file so framerate wasnt affected too much.

Also,I spoke to my team,they're keen to do the show.

Ozzy, as Lurch said, it's still worth getting RW to listen in. It will only be used in formation flying to warn/instruct others in the formation. Only one person in the group will need a mic, the rest just need speakers or headphones. I will try to organise groups once the list of pilots and planes is compiled and that might not be until saturday

I haven't even finished the AC list Ozzy. I have added 17 more planes and I have a while to go yet. Can you reccomend some good warbirds on sites other than flightsim.com (I can never manage to get logged in there).

Well we've got some lovely ones here in the Vintage section. Of course the Spitfire V and XIV. Otherwise its down to what people can fly, Ju88s and 52s, Me262, Lancaster, B24, Mig3, P38, P51, P36, P39, B29, and Swordfish.
I'd suggest maybe some Stearmans of Tiger Moths would be a nice change of pace, and they look good.
There also a nice selection of aerobatic aircraft available for serious stunting, there is the Extra 300 obviously, the SU-29 and Pitts are available here under props. Harvard/Texan (T6)?
Basically lets keep it to stock aircraft and things you can download at SimV, and nowt else.

Some WWII style dogfight demonstrations might be cool as well.....and perhaps some mock-bombing runs....

Could use LAX or JFK with no AI's flying around.  Or for a dash of the ol' city--Heathrow.  I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure they have plenty of room to land or takeoff with large a/c.

Mitchel recommended Heathrow, and I'm with him on that, two v.big runways, good for heavies and formation take-offs and landings. Also plenty of smaller airfields nearby to bingo too if things go pear shaped.
I agree wholeheartedly on the no AI thing, as unless we do it through vatsim there will be no ATC, and the computers of each user will be doing their own thing!
Another consideration is time of day, as many people entering will be from Europe, and many from the US and Australia by the looks of things... Eeek, this is turning into a great big organisational nightmate. Love it
One good thing though, at least we can guarantee clear blue skies

I also agree that we should do it on VATSIM. Perhaps they'd be willing to "shut down" a particular airport in order to accomodate the show.


As for the different time zones, I'd recommend doing it on like a Saturday or Sunday, when the majority of folks aren't at work.  There are some that will be, but I think most are off.

I have some nice props lined up and since I'm not very experienced with warbirds I wont put many on the list but please note that you ARE still allowed to fly them as long as you give me a link to where they are and I will put them on the list. Please don't let this put you off

Only 2 aircraft are from different sites and they are the PM2 Concorde and the C-5 Galaxy from www.aircraftdesignstudios.com

I'm afraid it will still be in FS2002 because many of us are in europe and it wont be released here for a while.

I signed up with the C-5.

Some of the more experienced guys, that have flown formation w/o voice comms should do whatever works for them. The guys with RW should use that if they are comfortable. Flying close formations is difficult enough in real life. In the virtual world, you don't have any physical references. Perifreal vision, Inner ear cues, stick feel, nothing. And unless you're really good, (Like Ozzy ), you'd be busy as a "One legged man in a butt kickin' contest".  ;D
(Personally, I like and encourage RW, but that's just personal preference)

Realisticly, with the amount of pilots showing interest, you'll, without a doubt, need full ATC services for whatever airport you decide on. That would probably include secondary towers, and possibly assistance by surrounding airport ATC facilities.
You don't want to have 8 planes landing on 3 runways at the same time.

I'd gladly sign up, but its hard to sign up when you don't know when it's going to be!

My suggestion is to get it organized (ie...pick a date, pick an airport, arrange it with ATC...) first, and then get people to officially sign up.   You know already about how big it's going to be, so I'd get the rest finalized before getting people signed up only to find out you couldn't get ATC approval....
