Yes, but if I installing a PAI aircraft manually, in nutshells, for example I have downloaded the PAI 767-300 paint kit, which I should put manually into the aircraft folder. After that I have to put the texture folder of the appropriate livery into PAI 763 aircraft folder, and after that to modify the aircraft.cfg (copy paste the name of the actual livery's texture folder into the appr. line of the file). I've done this but the a/c doesn't showed up, so I can't check it that whether I can use it for AI traffic or not...

I have installed several PAI packages, but for some of them, the aircraft appear black.  It seems to be consistant within an airline (Southwest, Lufthansa to name a few).  Has anyone else seen this, and if so, is there a fix I can do?  I did try re-installing the airline packages, but it didn't help.

junotom,

Based on your account,  I'm guessing that something is wrong in the aircraft.cfg file.  When I install in aircraft or texture (such as PAI) and it doesn't show up at all in the menu, it means one of two things: 1.  I have two or more aircraft in my fs2002/aircraft directory with duplicate titles or, 2. When editing the Aircraft.cfg file I failed to number the [fltsim]  headings so that they appear in order without duplicate numbers.  The [fltsim] headings should appear above each aircraft title beginning with [fltsim.0], and there should be a separate title for each texture being applied to that model of aircraft.  My default 737-400 contains 32 texture folders and the aircraft.cfg file has a destinct title for each texture.

jnj561,

Yes, I have encountered blackish artifact with AI aircraft of several types, not just PAI aircraft.  I think the problem has to do with DirectX and display drivers, but to be honest, I've seen the problem go away just by restarting Windows.

Good luck all! :)

Emh 8,

In the last 2 days I tried to deal with this, and the result is the same, in detail: ANA 767-300, 747-400, Sabena 737-400 (all from PAI) shows up correctly, but the DC-10 (ie. JAL), 747-300 (ie. SN) doesn't. I checked the duplication issue and no matter.

Furhermore, those PAI aircrafts, which doesn't shows up in the FS2002 aircraft menu, I cannot use for AI traffics (I tried it with JAL DC-10).

I have checked the aircarft.cfg for plenty time.. :-[

Have you contacted PAI directly to see if they're aware of any bugs?  It could happen!
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

Junotom,

Okay, here's another idea:

In the Aircraft.cfg files of the DC-10 and 743, look under the title for the entry "sim=" and check to make sure the entry identically matches the name of the .air file in that aircraft's folder.

Example: Under each title for my default 737-400, it reads,"sim=Boeing737-400."  The name of the .air file in my 737-400 folder is "Boeing737-400.air."

Hope this helps!! :-/

What you could do, assuming you have TTools installed, is to decompile the aircraft.txt file and add your aircraft in there. Then recompile it, and you should be OK.

I've never played with PAI addons, so I really couldn't say. What I've done in the past is found GMAX aircraft and added them to the aircraft.txt, and made flightplans for them and bingo! There they are.
But, that's just a bandaid. I'm not sure if that would fix your particular problem.
