Paz!  If you really want to use that P-38 (I think I know which one it is--really good!) you can.  As I recall the top speed on those things was only about 250 kts. in a steep dive.  Just for reference, my H-1 is capable of nearly 300 kts.  You can however, make up for the speed in distance.  If you can fly farther than I can on one tank of fuel (you probably can--the H-1s a guzzler) then you stand a good chance.

Hyperion! You can fly any plane you want, provided it meets the requirements in the .txt file.  The date thing is not so much a rule as a guideline--more of a suggestion, really.  Since the A1H was produced in some form between 1930 and 1950, you are more than welcome to use any variation made thereof, excluding modern revamped models.  Or just use that P-39.  Either way is fine by me.  I want a good race, so pick the one with the best overall performance.

Now I expect we are all not quite ready for takeoff yet, so when you get your aircraft squared away and everything is nominal again, throw a message on the board saying "Takeoff from Seattle-Tacoma Intl @ (whatever time)"  That will signal our beginning, okay?

 I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to drop out, I flew part of the first leg last night and realized that this is going to take a lot of time.
 With trying to make steady progress in my Misadventures trip, I just don't have enough time to obligate myself to another extended flight.
 Possibly in the future I will be able to involve myself in something like this, I'm sure it would have been fun.
I just didn't think it through. Enjoy your trip guys.

SMOKE IS OUT.

Taking off from Seattle at 06.00 hours (Local time) on Sunday morning and flying his Default Corsair, "Humping Henrietta" Smoke expressed high hope of winning this historical race.

Climbing to an altitude of 20,000 feet with a course of 120 Smoke managed to find an airport with fuel facilitys approximately 3 hours and 900 miles later.

The tail must be in level with the body for any 'taildragger' while landing, and after some time the tail is slowly brought down to the ground. Or, you can do what is called a '3-point landing', where all 3 wheels, i.e., 2 at the front and the tail wheel touch down at the same time.

These concepts are explained very well by the 'Kings' in MSFS2004 ACOF.

No?  Really?  How could I ever have missed that?  Why do you think I posted the screen shots?  I came in far too fast, bounced, applied the brakes and went head over heels!!!  Thanks for the, erm, advice

But Hyperion: if you stopped the flight in midair, the flight analysis will only show from the point you load the sim to the point you press ESC.  Just thought I'd point it out.

Well if that's the case, I'm either going to have to bail or we'll need to figure out another way to time it, because I don't know about everyone else, but I don't have the time to sit and fly for six hours between cities... :-/

You don't have to fly for six hours at a stretch, or even one if you don't want to.  Fly sort of like you would in real life.  Whenever you want to fly, get in the plane and take off, then fly however far you want, land at whatever airport is closest, park and shutdown and then take two screenshots of the Flight Analysis.  That way you're not having to sit there forever whilst your airplane goes across the US.  Whatever distance you want to fly in one stretch is completely up to you.
