The FS 2004 Scenery Swap...

Postby Wing Nut » Sun Aug 10, 2003 5:22 pm

For those who haven't heard about this yet...

If you own both FS 2002 and 2004 and are holding off running 2004 because of the frame rates, there is hope for you.  If you take the texture files from

FS2002/SCENEDB/World/Texture

and replace them with the files from

Flight Simulator 9/Scenery/World/Texture

you'll get much better scenery, especially with the water reflections.  Several people have tried this and say it's a big improvement over the stock textures.  Not FS2004 standard, but better...

This is not my idea, btw, it came from another posting... :)

Look at the Going, Going, Gone post in FS2004.  There are a couple of links to other forums where they're trying it too.

The trouble with this great idea is that its ILLEGAL!!! :o Unless you own copies of both games....
Those files are copyright to M$, and trading them is against international law.
Good idea, but I'll wait for my copy of 2k4 and enjoy it.

Ozzy. It's just as well to point this out but nobody here is suggesting anything illegal.

PS. Although I have both sims I'm a tad nervous about trying this. Think I will leave well alone. I'm quite happy with my FS2002 as it is. ::)
