GPS Problem

Postby PSW » Wed Aug 06, 2003 1:10 pm

:) Hi folks !

When I flew today and I used my GPS,there is only the green line showing and the airplane and some other information. When I reached my destination (I started from KATL to CYYZ),the airport wasn't shown and on the way,no icon or nothing was shown. How can I fix this problem?

You can adjust the various functions of the GPS by hitting "Mode"  on the GPS itself and then various combinations of the arrows and the "enter" button.

Good luck.  It is possible to program the GPS to fly you to any airport in the world in this way.

... Oops, nearly signed it LOL

Wait, so the GPS can act as a sort of FMC?  Will it fly me there automatically as if on autopilot?
Great edit, Bob.

Yes, if you hit the NAV button then the AP button.

You implied it with "well I'll be Fozzer's Uncle".

I have your Logo and it's hurting...

That wasn't the intended implication.  I was merely referring to Fozzer as a monkey....lovingly of course.  lol

Still very rude of you.  You have to be careful with the GPS system, it can end up sending you to the strangest places.

Welcome back....lol

Is that due to a programming bug within F$ or because it is difficult to use?  I've never used the GPS in F$. lol

Theres no instructions that I can find anywhere.  I discovered that you could program it accidentally one day whilst trying to switch it off.

The various combinations of the arrow buttons are a little weird to say the least.  I'll post some pic's if you like...

Granted that the Nav/GPS mode switch is turned to GPS, or else that will not work. :)

To answer the querstion, simply open the GPS window and while in "map view" click the "Menu" button and use the horizontal arrows to switch "yes/no", and the vertical arrows to move up or down.
Then push "Enter" :)

The FS2002 GPS is a very basic one, and it cannot be programmed like the "Legs page" on an FMC, where you input the names of several wpts (or airways) and hence create a funcitoning flightplan. The MS GPS gets waypoint data from the flightplan you create in the "flightplan" menu, although, the GPS can be programmed to give you a direct route to a waypoint/airport.

I think mostly uses it as a "moving map" function, since the default MS planes has a very limited ND screen.

Hope this helps!
