Cold and Dark Cockpit Gauge Version

Postby flyerorange » Fri Aug 01, 2003 8:46 pm

This file is on page 8 of FS2002 Misc.Downloads.  I unzipped it fine into my Gauges folder.  I'm trying to open the Panel.cfg file.  The Read Me says to open it with Microsoft Editor.  I'm not sure how to do this.

If any of you are familiar with this file, I'd appreciate any help.   ::)

Just use notepad to open any of those .cfg files.  :)

first off, I would suggest not using aircraft editor. It's full of bugs, and it changes things without permission.

I tried this gauge, but on my first flight using it, it completely shut my aircraft down as soon as my wheelse touched the runway on landing ::)

I didn't like the gauge, but I have this instead. It's a small file that sits in the \FS2002\flights\other folder. The default fltsim.flt contains one paragraph you can change to make all your planes start up with cold and dark cockpits. Just replace this:

[Systems]
BatterySwitch=True
AvionicsSwitch=True
StructuralDeiceSwitch=False
PropDeiceSwitch=False

..with...

[Systems]
BatterySwitch=False
AvionicsSwitch=False
StructuralDeiceSwitch=False
PropDeiceSwitch=False

...and it should work a treat!

I personally like the Dark Cockpit gauges, but I don't like that they stay in the panel until you take them out.  Sometimes I want to just hop in my aircraft to take a flight over new scenery or to test out a new addition to the aircraft.cfg file, but I end up having to sit there and restart the engines, while aircraft are lining up behind me on the runway.  Now this isn't exactly a HUGE problem, and I will keep the DC gauges on my panel until something better comes along, but I was thinking about a replacement of some kind.

It could be a box like the ones in the startup menu that you check if you want the a/c to be cold and dark when you get in.  Is that possible?

Crazy question...........I notice that the engines are already on, even though the cockpit is dark.  Is this supposed to be?  And how do you get the engines to be off when you start?  thanks!   :(

I went with zcottovision's way. The actual file download didn't work for me.  Thanks.
