thrust power!

Postby jeroentje » Mon Aug 04, 2003 8:30 am

hey guys!

You know at a real airport you see the heat waves/smoke behind the engines of those boeings and airbus aircrafts....Lately I saw this add-on you had to pay for, for a certain jet and it had those heat waves! which makes it possible to actually get that realism of adding thrust and seeing the smoke/warm heat ( also including dirt/leaves being blown away allong the side of the runway). BUT THE QUESTION IS...HOW TO???? there gotta be a way...and might this be a new feature in FS2004 maybe?
cheers,
Jeroen

This same question was asked about two weeks ago, only this author used the term "heat shimmers".  Either way, I know what you're talking about, but I don't remember the outcome.  Try checking the earlier threads and see if a solution was offered.
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

thanks for replying!
I had a look at "heat Schimmers" and some ideas were braught up but no reall plan was conlcuded of how to construct them. ruff Ideas of developing cyclinders behind the engines and then making them blurry was one idea. Also to include some smoke...Any other people have ideas on this topic?
bye bye,

You'd need to make a .fx file most likely but I don't know how to do that, and besides most 3rd party .fx files are just color modifications of the standard smoke .fx so I'm guessing not many people know how to make a .fx file. Hope I helped some.
