   glidepath hold on ils approach

Postby kcarr » Mon Jul 07, 2003 8:58 am

On Boeing 747 autopilot will not hold glidepath on ILS approaches.

Am I doing something wrong, or is there a bug in the programming because there is no problem with other aircraft?

TO emh8 re my query on Boeing 747 ILS hold in FS2002

Please excuse my enforced absence from the internet and the delay in replying to your advice. Your diagnosis in paragraph 2 was spot-on.
Having recently installed FS2002, I was trying out the Boeing 747 in local area flights, thereby attempting to land with a near-full fuel load. Relying on the single approach speed quoted in the Flight Manual section, I had not read the Kneeboard and was unaware of the alternative speeds for more than, and less than. half-fuel load. this had not been a consideration with FS2000 aircraft types.
Thank you for taking the time to help solve my problem.

Hi, how do I autoland using the autopilot in Boeing 7X7 series? After tuning in the ILS freq in NAV1, should I click on the approach button? Please help.
I don't represent M$. Then why the name M$? Simple...I like what they make, especially FS!

No, you should be perfectly aligned both GS and Localizer wise, which aint that hard, even with strong winds and so-so visibility. The best is if you can capture the GS somewhat below it and then engage the APP-function. Now, don't forget to turn OFF the ALT HOLD, HDG SEL buttons and the autothrottle. Always manage your speed by yourself, especially in MS default planes, whose APP functions really SUCK
