10 AM which is 1013 GMT, which is 1013 Zulu time?

THERE is your mistake.  10AM is NOT 1000 GMT....

10AM (ET) is 2PM or 1400 GMT.

Therefore, 10AM (ET) is 1400Z

I should add that in the UK right now we're not using GMT....because of the summer, we're on BST, which is British Summer Time, and is GMT +1. So the difference between EST and BST is 5 hours.

I think I got it.........say it is noon GMT.....it would be 8 ET but out of DST it would be 7 right?

Now it is 7:00 if I add 5 it is 12PM which is 24 military or 00 right? So it would be 0000 zulu, that is not right

7:02 now, so If i add 5  it is 12 PM which is 24 military or 00 right? So it would be 0002

or 2402? well?

Noooooooooooooo...

7PM is NOT 0000 military, it's 1900 military.

However, military time is irrelevant here, sorta...

You add four hours to your local (ET) time to get GMT.

To convert it to military, you add 12 hours to your local time.

In other words, 7PM local (ET) time would be 2300Z.

7+4=11 (GMT)

11PM military is 2300

Ooooooooops. For some reason I wanted to add 5 hours to make it UK time. My fault! Ignore everything I've just said, apart from what I've just said!

here's a trick, Click the time in the lower right corner of the windows task bar.  Then select the Time Zone tab. All the time zones (In XP) are listed with their offset from GMT.  no adjustment for DST tho.  EST is given as -5 GMT.

GMT, zulu and 'time in England' aren't all the same.

It's now BST in England (British Summer Time) which is 1 hr ahead of GMT (clocks 'spring' forward in the Spring).

Zulu is just 'local time' - so at the moment, in England 1500 zulu is the same as 1400 GMT

When the clocks 'fall' back 1 hr in the Autumn (fall to you foreigners  ;) ), zulu and GMT become the same.

In NY right now, 1200 zulu would be the same as 1700 BST or 1600 GMT

White on White fly all night.

Red on White you're alright.

Red on Red you'll soon be dead.
