Hope I didn't make it seem like I was un-patient, yes I will wait as much and if kill FPS I will just fly over it if neccesary to enjoy it, but I was just asking since you said it will be out in a week or so on June. Again, I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. But yes, as soon as it is out, I would fight for it, the anticipaiton is too much already! ;D

Thanks all for being so understanding.

Good ole FSTipster John Consterdine hit the nail on the head a few weeks ago when he said that as Kai Tak has been closed for 5 years now it's unlikely anyone will bother again doing a detailed model of it.

That exactly expresses my thoughts. And don't forget that as it gets dug up and bulldozed, you have to rely more and more on photographs and other archive stuff because the real buildings just aren't there anymore making it much harder and more time-consuming to virtually rebuild.

I'm not after personal glory or anything like that - my design work is not good enough for a start - but such a magical place can't be allowed just to slip away and disappear into history.

In a way I'm trying to create as far as I can some sort of historical record of the place. I want people who were lucky enough to go there to be able to say - hey, I recognise that place. It's impossible to get everything totally exact because of the constraints you have to work under in FS - and I guess some people will say why bother, just make an FS airport we can fly out of. But that wouldn't meet my objectives.

OK maybe I have got a bit 'too' involved in the Kai Tak thing - I couldn't keep devoting as much time as I am otherwise like all scenery designers - but I think ultimately it will be worth it. When I fly it on my PC it's personally very satisfying to know that I've made the now dead place back into a 'living' environment. I want that to be as convincing as possible when I do eventually share it with you guys so thanks for being patient a little while longer.

Hope this explains the situation a bit.

Roger

PS I hope FSTipster is able to follow things from time to time. He asked me to send him a copy of the software when it's done which, of course, I haven't yet been able to.

I'm sure I reflect the views of the 'Regulars' here when I send 'Best Wishes' and look forward to your return here at some time.

As a resident of Hong Kong 4 years before,I went to Kai Tak International Airport and I compared it between Chap Lap Kok (new) and Kai Tai.I like the Chap Lap Kok because it is newer and bigger thus Kai Tai is dirtier so...just thought to give you some opinions :)

Roger, Now that FS2004 will be released shortly, will you be making it compatible for FS2004 also?

Andrew,

Everything I've read so far on the FS design forums seems to be suggesting that the 2002 and 2004 scenery engines are compatible so I'm hoping that it will slot straight in.

Have you or anyone else heard any different? In any case, as far as I know, no-one is designing anything right now specifically for 2004 (except hopefully M$
