AC Texture problem

Postby ReverseThrust » Sun Jul 13, 2003 2:53 pm

LAtely, I've hadproblems with what I'll describe as 'texture blending'.  On my MelJets and Flightcraft models (and maybe others, I haven't noticed), I have jagged, moving lines on engine textures and on wing-fuselage connections.  I'm sure this is not just a ac malfunction because these planes are very hiugh quality.  Any Sugestions or ideas?? THANKS!

This sound like a Z-buffering problem.

When FS2002 has two layers of polygons very close together (in terms of depth, the 'z-axis') it can't decide which ones are on top. This results in a zig-zag pattern where some show through and others don't. You might also see them flickering.

Try selecting a 32-bit colour mode if you card/monitor will support it, and see if that cures the problem.

Usualy, designers can compensate for this by applying a z-bias to the offending polys.

I had what sounds like a very similar problem with a repaint of the POSKY 747 paint kit...and it was driving me nuts.  I'll check this solution out when I get home this afternoon.

Thanks!
Great edit, Bob.
