I believe that most aircraft have a maximum allowable landing weight. For some reason I seem to recall 20% fuel load although don't quote me on that. That fuel load may even be a required limit to allow for any contingencies that might arise.
White on White fly all night.
Red on White you're alright.
Red on Red you'll soon be dead.
