Question about downloading scenery

Postby flyerorange » Wed Jul 09, 2003 11:14 pm

When you download scenery for FS2002, it appears some of the downloads are replacing your defaults, and some state that certain ones don't affect your defaults.  How do I know?

Also, if a scenery file does replace the default file, can you get back to default in all cases, if you so choose?

Any help is appreciated. ::)

TJ,  The reason why it's not clear is because I haven't downloaded any scenery yet.  That's why I'm asking before I do it.  I appreciate your thoughts.

Flyerorange. Generally speaking, updates to default airports & terrain mesh will not be listed as new entries on the FS2002 selection menu. You would need to go to the existing airport or fly over the terrain to notice the difference. Only new airports will have their own menu entries. I think this is what you wanted to know.

Providing you install each new scenery area separately & activate it via the Scenery Library you should have no problems. My little tute might help. http://www.simviation.com/lair/fs2002sc.htm

I appreciate all the assistance.  So far, so good!  I have successfully downloaded both aircraft and miscellaneous files.  I've yet to do scenery.  I'll let you know, if there's anything to report.  Thanks!   :D
