DBS eurofighter tail hook?

Postby EricK » Tue Jul 08, 2003 9:09 pm

I have recently downloaded the DBS eurofighter and more recently the aircraft carrier scenery from the arrestor cable website. I love the fighter but I can't figure out how to deploy the tail hook. I have tried shift+H and also the regular spoiler / key but neither seem to work. Any suggestions?
One more thing, until I can afford to purchase the proper arrestor cable utility for 'catch and launch', is it possible to land a fighter on an aircraft carrier? This may be a dumb question, but every effort I make, I end up in the water!
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Eric

You have to go into settings\assignments and assign a key combination for the tailhook.  I think shift-T is unused.

Are you using the addon ArrCab program along with the scenery?

If ArrCab is running you can trap any aircraft, even without a tail hook. Taildraggers is a slightly different setup, though. If you're sure you are landing in the catch zone, you might have to adjust them per the instructions. I've never done that, I'm afraid. Also, if you're running ArrCab, make sure the ArrCab.dat files are shown in the dialog box and are correct for the carrier you're using.

The tailhook doesn't work on it.

I was a Beta tester for it and I'm pretty sure David couldn't get it working...don't know why, even I can animate a tailhook. ::)

Thanks for the replies,
I have been unsuccesful at getting the hook to deploy on the 'eurofighter'. If you beta tested it, you obviously know alot more than I, so that reasures me. (time to give up!) I have been able to get the hook to deploy on my CF-18's (by dean reimer) It has 4 flap settings and on the 4th setting (full flaps) the hook comes down. I understand that it is just a visual thing, but it was really bugging me! Anyway, I look forward to giving the arrestor cable program a try at some point and now I'll have the visuals to go with it.
Thanks for the help
Eric

One more thing,

I just noticed I wrote 'DBS eurofighter' in my original post. It is actually made by 'DSB'. (ooops!) Wouldn't want to get the name wrong of a design group that made such an incredible aircraft.
Thanks again

that is normal if you can't use the eurofighter on a carrier.  Eurofighter is not a carrier aircraft it is a lanbased ground suport fighter aircraft
