editing aircraft.cfg

hey guys im enjoying some of the add-ons and  a/c ive d/l. im having problems with one

i d/l the sonic boom and it tells me to edit the .cfg file. so i open it up in a text editor, but when i go to save it it tells me it will change the format into a word document. how would i edit this file w/o changing the format?

Hi Sundrop. First - make sure the file you're editing is not configured as Read-only. Right-click on the icon & select Properties. Uncheck the Read-only option if necessary.
I suggest associating CFG files with Notepad. "Associating File Extensions" here. http://www.simviation.com/lair/windows.htm
This makes it so easy as a double-click on its icon will then open any CFG file in Notepad. After editing, exit Notepad saving changes when prompted. It's as simple as that.  ;)

PS. Please take a backup copy of any file before editing it in case of mistakes.

thanks for the reply. i found my problem. i was clicking save as.. when i should have just been saving it with just the "save" button. thanks for the help tho.
