GPS feeding Slew mode

Postby Konyak » Thu Jun 26, 2003 12:06 pm

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a utility or someone who has managed to use live GPS coordinates as an input for slew mode.  Basically, instead of using the joystick as a source, or typing in coordinates, the plane would "fly" in slew mode constantly updated by the GPS in real life.

If anyone thinks this is possible or already done, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks,

Why slew mode? You can set the GPS to track a course and set the time exceleration to max (16x) and it will get there pretty fast.

Perhaps it doesn't have to be slew mode, but I'm looking to get the coordinate readout of a gps that is onboard a real aircraft, to "fly" the plane in Fs2002.  You can imagine the implications of that, were it possible  ;)

You need a different kind of gps

Try downloading acsgps20.zip by Alain Capt. This is like a 'proper' GPS. You can flightplan by inputting NDBs, VORs or other waypoints including virtual waypoints you create yourself.

You have to install it in each panel though which is what deters some people (but not you surely!) and it comes in various sizes and formats just as in real life so you choose the most suitable version.

I would think this would do what you want.
