I wasn't talking about the window in on the altimeter, I was talking about the actual reading the altimeter is showing.

Not that I reeeeeally need to explain myself.
Great edit, Bob.
Hey Hyperion if my altimeter read "0000" in Aspen, would that be bad?

Hello Everyone-

This is Malibu. I just got home from work and checked to see if anyone answered my question that I posted this morning. I couldn't believe that there were 16 replies. I read all of them, and now understand what 2992 means. ;)

I just wanted to thank you all, especially the people that took extra time to include a graphical demonstration. This seems like a very nice board. Very informative, helpful, and friendly!

Thanks Again Everyone!

OK Scott, I'll try to keep this as simple as possible. To tell the originator of this question that"when the proper altimeter setting is entered in the Colesman window, while sitting on the runway, the altitude should read "0000 feet"",is grossly incorrect. Unless your in Florida or somewhere else close to sea level. It seems my sarchasm has gone completely over your head. If I was in Aspen(CO), sitting in an airplane at the end of the runway with the current, correct altimeter setting entered in the Colesman window, I would hope the altimeter(Indication in feet), would read 7,820'(little hand near the SEVEN big hand just past the EIGHT). If my altimeter read "0000" (indication in feet)under these conditions, that would make me a spelunker! :o
.....so I loaded up the plane and moved to Middle-EEEE..........OIL..that is......

It wasn't until AFTER I sent the last reply, that I noticed Malibu had reviewed all of the replies, and now understands
the topic.      mission accomplished!! 8)

Wisdom from one of my recent passengers"I don't like to fly in nothin' but Cessnas and AeroCommanders.
