New video recording utility

Postby WebbPA » Thu Jun 19, 2003 1:23 pm

This probably doesn't belong here but I want to make sure a lot of people see it.  I just found this video recording utility that looks like it will let you record your screen to .avi instread of using the built in recorder with all it's shortcomings.  I won't have time to try it out before the weekend but if anyone else is interested it's here http://www.capturepad.com/

I've been looking for something like this for a while. If it's a "keeper", it would be great to be able to upload snippets to share with everybody. This could be a whole new SimV Forum.

Opps. Maybe not. Because of the bandwidth limits.

If anyone hasn't seen one yet, check out www.vusafs.com for what could be a "Recruiting Commercial". A very talented gent put the video together with some rousing music to get some exciting results. Click on "VUSAFS Movie.
*Highspeed connection recommended, but worth the wait.

Great stuff!  ;)

Just tried it out but every time I start it and switch to FS2002 it says that the utility must have exclusive mode. I take this to mean it must have full use of DirectX. If so then it's not worth much since anything you might want to capture is going to use the same resources that the capture utility needs. I haven't tried it with anything except FS2002 but it's pretty useless for that. Maybe I'm wrong and someone else will figure how to use it with FS2002 but so far I haven't.
