Frames Per Second

Postby Lethal.Ambition » Mon Jun 16, 2003 4:32 pm

OK I get 10-20.............you might get 15-25 but what is the average, what do you see most on the display? I see 20, 30 at night, but i fly mostly at day so i get 10-20

If you have over 100 or 80-100 then you have a great system. Please vote! Log on to vote though

:)The best I can get out of my machine is mid 30s-thats with sliders set mid-range,sound off,no traffic-and specific FR friendly AC-with a cold boot up.However, after a long flight-say 6 to 8 hrs,FR drops to a crawl and scenery blurs-regardless of AC Im flying. Its very dishartening, and Im not sure why this is or how to fix it :(
To bad I cant make a living out of this, but it would probably kill me.

20-30 fps. Settings mostly in the mid to upper middle on the scales. No major slowdowns execpt for KSUU where I inserted 4 C-5 Galaxies as AI traffic. When there, F/rates go down to about 8 or 10.

It all depends on where I am. If i'm at KSEA with all sliders maxed out, including ATC @ 100% using all PAI airlines, I get 10 at the max. But, if i'm flying in the bush with no traffic and default scenery, I get 25 where it's maxed ;)

Well, I own a Geforce2 MX400 and get about 20-25 fps in FS2002 and about 15-20 on CFS3. My computer is an AMD Duron 950 with 512mb PC-133 ram. I was getting about 15-20 fps on FS2002 but I used Riva Tuner to tweak the drivers without overclocking. I highly recomend it because it provides access to driver and card features that you cannot get through the control panel.  ;D

I also own a Radeon 8500LE, which I've been complaining about in the hardware forum since Saturday. With that darn thing, I'm lucky to get slideshow on some 3d games, when  triangles are not darting across the screen  >:( Must be broken. I learned a valuable lesson, be wary of products on display which read "open box, half price". I wonder why the box was open.  ::) Oh well, atleast I can exchange it for a new one.  :P

Does Riva Tuner work with WinXP?

I can usually get 15-20 around most small to mid sized airports with slides set from low to mid on some, ATC at 100. At places like LAX, I get around 8-10 with max ATC, but I also have 3 PAI sets added to my AI's plus all of the defaults.  System is 1.2 Celeron, XP, GeForce MX 440 SE (almost done tweaking and getting everything I can from it), 384 MB Ram, 30 gig HD with 14 gig free.  I'm also trying some of the XP tweaks mentioned on here.

Anyone else not see a difference in picture quality when lowering  their texture quality and terrain mesh complexity to almost nothing?  I did and don't see much of a difference in most cases.  Just a bit better FPS.

I usually hover around 15 to 20 with a 1800+ AMD Athlon, 512 Megs of PC133 DDR RAM and an NVidia GForce2 MX 400 with W98 SE.

I also multitask like crazy. Never have tried running only FS2002 by it'self. I'm usually either browsing the web or messing with EOD while flying. Lowest framerate I get is using the ZSHC scenery flying a Bell47 at 8 FPS.

I know how to set the slider, but where do you actually see what framerate you are getting? ???

press shift+z a few times.
i get 20-30 with sliders at about 3/4 and today i decided for fun to max them all out completely and found out a few things i didnt know before, the ground vehicals(albeit stationary) and the scenery looked great for once, but i only get 10 max with that. i am going to add another thing of ram whatever the highest i can find is, and get a decent graphics card. and bring the rates and quality up

I average about 15-20 consistently.  I have my target at 20fps with the sliders at half or 3/4.  I run my atc around 70%.  Lots of addons, lots of fun....

I get between 10 at KLAX to 35 at night over the ocean. Multiplayer slows it down a little. I have a 1.2 Ghz Celeron, 256MB of PC-133 SDRAM, 15 and 40 GB Harddrives and no graphics card. I am planning on getting more RAM and a Radeon 9700Pro if I weren't such a cheepskape LOL ;D

Well I have just done a test and with all the sliders at maximum with 6x Antialiasing and 16x Anisotropic filtering with a default 737 over New York I get

35-40FPS

And over the sea same settings I get 75-80FPS this is with the resolution at 1024x1074 or whatever!! ???

PS The system has been on a while and I am logged on to the internet!

Well, with every single setting off, except for terrain texture size on medium, and the resolution at the lowest, but whatever changes I make; whenever you guys say you do it, you get more frames; the frames never improve!  I hate this piece of crap!  I can't even fly the meljet 777 or 747 any more, since it's just getting slower and slower, don't know what is wrong with the damn processor, doesn't make any sense!  I can't even fly the default C172 at big airports, with every single setting off!  1-2fps!  And at other airports in the middle of nowhere, with the default C172, I get around 8-10fps from spot view!  You guys that can have every single setting including traffic on full and get over even 16-20fps don't know how lucky you are! :(  I wish I had a computer like that!  35-40fps over New York! :o
