Slew Mode Question

Postby HeavyMetal » Sun Jun 08, 2003 7:38 am

If you are on a long haul and you slew forward to save time, does ATC cancel your IFR flightplan?? Also, I can slew forward and backward using the joystick, but how does one slew up and down?

thanks

Hi Speedbird, yes slew will get ATC cancelled, to avoid this press ALT and select OPTIONS, and you'll see a choice to alter game speed, and then you can go up to 32x faster.
With up and down in slew us F4 and F1 respectively and to stop press F3 or F2.

Ozzy ;)

thanks Ozzy, but if you go lets say 10 times faster, wont you miss all your ATC calls if flying ILS? eg. "Lufthasa 442 heavy, turn right heading 110," or "Decend and maintain" Are you saying that you should only slew to about 100 km from destination so as to not miss the important ATC commands?

thanks

Speedbird - when I increase the sim rate I always keep a finger on the alt button. That way when you see the ATC screen come up in the blue writing for you, you can hit the alt button, reset the sim rate to 1x, and do what atc asks of you - then go back to whatever sim rate you want. Usually if you keep your GPS screen up, you can tell how far off course you are and where your next turn will be and you can go back to 1x somwhere around where you think atc will contact you.
